I firmly believe in putting your animal's happiness and well-being first, whether that be whilst undergoing training or while you are away.

Kennels can be an unnecessarily stressful experience for your beloved pets. I passionately believe animals are happiest and most relaxed in the comfort of their own home.

In order to provide the best care and environment for your pets, it is important to understand their needs.

I bring a lifetime of knowledge and experience of owning, understanding and working with a multitude of different animals.

My name is Karen

I have always had an affinity and love for animals and have owned and worked with various animals throughout my life, including cats, dogs, horses and many smaller pets.

Through this lifetime of knowledge and experience, I have developed a deep understanding of many, different types of animal behaviour, such as stress, discomfort, lameness etc. It is because of this, I believe I can provide the best care for all of your beloved pets.

Cats

Having grown up with them from an early age, I have almost always owned at least one cat throughout my life. In fact, for over 25 years, I have adopted many rescue cats from the RSPCA and Cats protection league.

It is my experience that cats, in particular, suffer from severe stress and anxiety when they are removed from their home environment and relocated to a traditional cattery, even for a few days.

This service is the perfect alternative for owners who want their cats to stay in the relaxed environment of their own home, whilst gaining the added security benefit that comes with daily home visits.

Some cats prefer a lot of fuss and attention, and others want very little. But you can rest assured that, whatever the preference, your cat will receive the very best care.

Choose from one or two home visits a day ensuring that your cat is, not only fed and watered but, someone is keeping a close eye on his/her well-being.

Houseplants can also be watered and small feathery, furry and sometimes slippery "Gifts" are disposed of (yes, I have dealt with frogs and fish, stolen from a neighbour's fish pond).

Dogs

Because I grew up with dogs, I learnt to understand and train them from a very early age. Over my lifetime, I have owned, walked and worked with various different breeds; from retrievers and poodles to terriers, hounds and herding dogs such as German Shepherds and Border Collies.

All have very different natures and temperaments, and I believe it is important to understand and optimise these in order to train them and provide the best care and handling. I have Completed a number of IMDT Dog Trainer's Courses and I'm currently working towards my IMDT Affiliation, with a view to specialising in dog behaviour.

Choose from one or two home visits a day ensuring that your dog is, not only fed and watered but, someone is keeping a close eye on his/her well-being.

Houseplants can also be watered.

Horses

I have ridden horses since my teens and, as soon I could afford it, went on to buy my own chestnut mare which I owned for over twenty-two years.

I was so fascinated by horses and the art of riding, that I went on to work at an Equitation Centre. There I was classically trained, gaining experience in teaching children and adults to ride, and achieving my basic BHS stable management qualifications.

As a result, I have had the experience of working with a variety of different types of ridden sport horse including; dressage, jumping, cross-country and endurance.

Small animals

I have owned and cared for various small animals over my life. In fact, my very first Saturday job was working at a pet shop, where I cared for a miscellany of pets including; Rabbits, Guinea pigs, Gerbils, Hamsters, various reptiles, birds, warm and cold water fish etc. As a result, I am not squeamish about handling even the most unlikely pets or their sometimes, rather wriggly, foods.
